Quarantine Haikus

1. Blue skies through the pane

My happiness quarantined

In a cage of glass

2. I think of Anne Frank

As I gaze out my window

No blue sky for her

3. We should have foreseen

that less buying, less driving

Could brighten the stars

4. Teacup on my desk

I toast the World Wide Web

Lone but not alone

5. Feelings amplified

With daily life simplified

Wading through highs, lows

6. Double Pandemic

Plagues poor in Trumplandia

Breadlines burgeoning

7. Fake virus they rage

No masks, just flags of hatred

Ignoring the dead

8. Paint me grey and blue

No comings and no goings

I live a still life

9. Greed drives this crisis

Death's high-speed locomotive

Open up hearts, not masks

10. Love marches proudly

Through city streets with teargas

Young and brave rise up

11. These deaths be not proud

For murd'rous Amerikkka

Howl their names out loud:

George Floyd, Sandra Bland

Eric Garner, Rodney King...

All must take a stand.

12. Eyes cast futile smiles

In masking and with distance

Longing for hugging

13. Mothers of Portland

Face off cops and their hired guns

Birthing brave new world

14. Lonely streets, locked lives

The city wails its silence

Soon this too shall pass

15. Rest in peace dear Ruth

Deft defender of the truth

We cry for justice

16. Fauci, Fauci Man

He sure ain't no macho fan

Unlike Head Honcho
